Roles & Responsibilities

|
UL Compliance & Certification
- Serve as the designated UL Manufacturer Technical Representative (MTR) and primary liaison (Gatekeeper) with UL.
- Maintain UL listings, certification files, inspections, audits, and follow-up services.
- Review and approve product, material, and process changes for UL compliance.
- Assess impacts of UL standard revisions and coordinate required actions.
- Authority to prevent release, production, or shipment of non-compliant products.
Quality, Warranty & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and maintain quality processes, procedures, and performance metrics.
- Lead root cause investigations, CAPA activities, and nonconformance resolution.
- Analyze warranty, field performance, and quality data to identify trends and drive improvements.
- Coordinate corrective actions across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Service.
- Drive initiatives that improve reliability, reduce warranty exposure, and increase customer satisfaction.
Field Service & Customer Support
- Oversee field service activities and major customer issue resolution.
- Ensure field issues are documented, investigated, and resolved through appropriate corrective actions.
- Monitor field performance and develop service-related metrics and reporting.
Engineering & Operations Support
- Partner with Engineering and Operations to ensure compliance, manufacturability, and product reliability.
- Review designs, materials, and manufacturing processes for compliance impacts.
- Support resolution of compliance-related production and product issues.
Quality & Compliance Systems
- Maintain controlled compliance documentation, records, and configuration management processes.
- Ensure approved materials, drawings, specifications, and labeling remain compliant.
- Train personnel and promote a culture of quality, compliance, and accountability.
- Serve as the internal subject matter expert for UL and compliance-related requirements.

Work Environment & Expectations
|

Required Qualifications
- Works on-site unless otherwise approved by management for major life circumstances.
- Typical work week: 40 hours, with willingness to support up to 10% overtime based on project needs.
- Must be self-directed, organized, and able to lead a team with minimal supervision.
- Travel is minimal and generally not required.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Experience
|
|
Required
- Demonstrated experience using warranty, field service, and quality data to drive product and process improvements.
- Experience with UL standards, certification maintenance, and change-control processes in an electrical equipment manufacturing environment.
- Experience with quality management systems, CAPA, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience managing warranty programs, product failure investigations, and corrective actions.
- Experience supporting field service operations and customer issue resolution.
- Strong knowledge of switchgear, power distribution equipment, or similar industrial electrical products.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence organizational change.
- Strong communication, project management, and analytical skills.
Preferred
- Prior experience as a UL Manufacturer Technical Representative (MTR) or Gatekeeper.
- Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent technical experience.
- Familiarity with UL 1558, UL 891, UL 508A, UL 845, and related standards.
- Experience with ISO 9001, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or equivalent quality methodologies.
- Familiarity with reliability tools such as FMEA, FRACAS, or warranty analytics.
- Experience with commissioning, field service, or maintenance of electrical power distribution equipment.

Authority and Accountability
|
- Authority to approve or deny compliance-impacting changes and halt production or shipment when compliance or quality is at risk.
- Accountable for UL certifications, quality system effectiveness, warranty performance, and corrective action execution.
- Authorized to escalate significant quality, compliance, or customer-impacting issues to senior leadership.
